OverviewEzekiel encourages us to contemplate where our inadequate views of God have formed actual idols in our heart, limiting God and us. Where have we tried to shove Almighty God into our little, personally made box for God? Ezekiel, too found himself trying to contain God in his holy box, and God was ready to explode that box of limiting boundaries, so God could be present with Ezekiel, even in exile. Where are we trying to shut God's presence out of our exile? While the scriptural book of Ezekiel can seem quite obscure, this rendition uses story to create an imaginative paraphrase of Ezekiel, summarizing key concepts and helping the characters come alive. Using elements of historical fiction as needed, this book shows Ezekiel and his wife with real feelings and struggles in their dialog, thus personalizing their story and helping us identify more closely with them. The reader will find that each chapter of this book coincides with each chapter of the Biblical book of Ezekiel, for easy cross reference and comparison. May this format make it easier for the reader to grow with Ezekiel, enlarging our view of God, in order to stop trying to control God, by forcing God into our carefully prepared box. Letting go of the box will free both Almighty God, and ourselves, to walk together more wholeheartedly, with a ""new heart of flesh"" rather than a ""heart of stone.""
