OverviewEveryone knows what you can do with money but beyond that, for many people, things get murkier. How and who creates money, how banks operate, the role of the central bank, how the quantity of money in the economy is managed, etc are all interrelated parts of the monetary system picture that are not well understood by many citizens. I strive in this book to provoke the reader to think and consider facts about money, taxes, government spending and the national debt. My goal is to have the reader more informed and more confident of his or her knowledge of these subjects and to have immunity from the prolific misinformation often seen in the media. I have tried to make the facts easy to understand and I have included historical documents to illustrate and corroborate the facts that are presented. Our money system and tax system are old, based on the infrastructure we had a century ago. Our present monetary system is an artifact of the gold is money era while we are using a fiat money system started by FDR in 1933. We live now in a new age that offers new insights into the nature of money and new tools to provide the processes needed to manage the nation's money supply. All of thse subjects and more are covered in the book.
