Overview

Listen to the birds, the breeze, the rustle of the trees so excited. All of Nature is calling. We've been invited! The core message of exchanging indoor activities for the adventure of the great outdoors drives the rhyming narrative, a journey of imagination and discovery mixing fantasy with reality in brilliant watercolor landscapes. We almost forgot to step outside! How could we? When we're very very busy, time passes so quickly. What Wonders Await Outdoors serves as a gentle reminder, a personal invitation, to wander outside, absorb the scenes offered year round, and reconnect with the natural world with reverence and respect.

A rollicking rhyme to deliver a message encouraging kids to exchange indoor activities for outdoor pleasures ... Adults who want to encourage kids to view indoor and outdoor play differently finally have a picture book that contrasts the two, supporting the notion of moving, discovering, and exploring nature. The focus on listening, looking, and experiencing leaves nothing to wonder and gives adults rudimentary clues for helping youngsters interact with, observe, and appreciate their outdoors world as much as their indoors one. ... Highly recommended for parents, preschool teachers, childcare providers, and anyone who would foster an early appreciation of nature in the very young. --D. Donovan, Senior Reviewer, Midwest Book Review Avery invites her readers to put down all those gadgets and indoor activities and take a few steps outside to see, hear and feel all that nature has to offer ... An essential book for getting the young ones (and some of the older ones) motivated to be at one with nature again. --Readers' Favorite Children's imaginations will light up ... Not only a book for kids ... What Wonders Await Outdoors reminds everyone to take time for exploration, adventure, and play ... a story about courage and curiosity ... a book about compassion and acceptance ... fun and inspiring. --Entrada Publishing Bring out the 'adventurer' in every child ... Remind children of all the 'good' things in the world. And most of the good things in the world don't happen on a tiny screen ... Grow by exploring, by trying new things - BY SEEING THE WORLD! --Wishing Shelf Book Review An absolutely visually beautiful book ... Easily relates to the child's experiences when out and about ... Encourages families to explore and embrace the natural world around us ... The watercolour illustrations are so unusual - busy, lively and modern - and capture the positive joy and pleasure to be had in spending time outdoors. --LoveReading4Kids
