What the Wind Brings

Overview

Sea monsters, lies, death, chips! The twin pillars of Fara seek to end the monstrous peril that hunts their people. At twelve years old, the time has come for Emily to choose between the mighty Red Hat Expedition, or the brilliant Blue Hat University. Or, the option that isn't an option: the mysterious Black Hats. What the Wind Brings is a story about outcasts. Emily herself is neurodivergent and struggles to abide by ""unfair"" rules. This difficulty might make Emily the only person in Fara who can save her world from violence and war. She also knows a lot about tortoises, and this turns out to be weirdly relevant.

Author Information

I was wandering around Scotland one day when I tripped and fell into a lifelong obsession with animation. I went to study at the Edinburgh College of Art, where I met my wife, Adrienne, although she wasn't my wife just yet. We travelled to Canada, then Korea, then to Canada again. That's when the wife bit happened. I have worked on three animated feature films, several TV shows, and a few books as an illustrator. Along the way, we acquired a baby called Willow, and a one-eyed cat named Sage. He was originally called Nelson for obvious reasons. Willow has always been Willow. I was diagnosed with autism when I was twenty. I hope this book will give a wee thrill of recognition and pride to autistic people. And, yes. I did enjoy my trip.
