Overview

The DRC is rich in priceless natural resources and considerable human potential. Yet the country remains locked in a trajectory of persistent underdevelopment, marked by mass poverty, weak industrialization and economic dependence. This book analyzes the structural obstacles to the DRC's economic and social transformation, highlighting: the central role of the comprador bourgeoisie and predatory political elites; the fragmentation and casualization of the working class; the responsibility of intellectual, moral and social elites in legitimizing or criticizing the system. Through a hybrid theoretical approach combining Marxism, structuralism and developmentalism, the book proposes concrete alternatives for endogenous and inclusive development: local industrialization, vocational training, social protection, collective organization of the working class and construction of a national productive capitalism.
