OverviewWhat I saw in Castros Cuba it's a book of stories about a city and its people. The author, Fray Patrick Sullivan, is a religious, not a journalist, or a historian, as he warns in its pages; hence this is an authentic work written with direct worlds, able to break the powerful censorship and self censorship prevailing in the Cuban Special Period. Topics such as the visit to Cuba of Pope John Paul II, the Church and the State, Cuban Christmas, Human Rights, political and religious persecution or the embargo, though seem foreign to the service of a priest, in this work effectively bind to remind us the invisible pillars of democracy. Table of ContentsReviewsAuthor InformationAlthough he served as a Catholic pastor in Cuba from 1994 until 1998, it wasn't until around 2003 that Patrick Sullivan started writing down some of his experiences and thoughts, which came to form this little book. He approached a couple of publishers with it, but found no interest. So he made it available over the internet to anyone who might be interested in Cuba, the Catholic Church and its relationship with the Communist goverment.
