I often felt the presence of loved ones and shared those moments with people around me who were grieving. Watching them ask for their own signs and receive comfort inspired this book. Children also struggle with loss. They may not yet have the maturity to ""make sense"" of it with their minds, but their hearts feel it deeply. Through Joy's eyes and her gentle Auntie's guidance, this story shows children that although someone may no longer be here in a body, their spirit can still send signs of love and guidance, and that noticing those signs can bring relief, hope, and a sense of connection. It gives children a way to understand on their own level that pets or family members who have passed are never far away; they often become guides and angels who walk beside us on our journey. My hope in sharing Joy's story is to gently open a doorway of comfort for children who may be wondering about loss.
