OverviewDuring Venice's 1960s portions of the lagoon have fenced-in (like boxes/casse) and further filled up (colmata) with excavated mud. Industries rose on some while, due to the overall industrial plan failure, the A-named Cassa was kept free. Its ground is flat, the edges merge into the lagoon and faces the most beautiful skyline: Venice and its bell towers. In the 2000s Venice got a sustainable water-purifier, the last phase of which works by bio-depuration, allowing the excess water to flow into the lagoon. The plant will be sited in Fusina, close by the cassa di colmata A, designatedfor this finishing system.
