She is on the scientific committee of Babel, Journal of the Federation of Interpreters and Translators. Her research interest is in the field of post-colonial studies and translation. She is a Fellow of The Linnean Society of London. Renato Tomei is a Ph.D. candidate in Jamaican and Ethiopian English at the University of Addis Ababa and Kingston, UWI. He has recently published a book on phytonyms, Forbidden Fruits. The Secret Names of Plants in Caribbean Culture (Morlacchi: Perugia).
