Padraig Tyers, from County Waterford, has lived for many years in Cork City. Now retired, all his working life involved the Irish language firstly as a teacher, then with Gael Linn and lastly at University College Cork. He first visited the Dingle Peninsula in 1948, immediately fell in love with the place and its people, and it became his second home. He is regarded as one of the foremost experts on the Irish of Chorca Dhuibhne.
