Author Information

Thomas Baechle is one of the founders of the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). He was the association’s second president, director of education and executive director of the NSCA Certification Commission. Baechle is a prolific author and editor in the field of strength training, having contributed to titles such as NSCA’s Essentials of Strength Training and Conditioning and NSCA’s Essentials of Personal Training. He has published 80 articles and chapters and made over 170 presentations relating to strength training, fitness and wellness. Baechle’s NSCA awards and recognitions include Region IV NSCA Strength Coach of the Year in 1982 and 1983, Strength and Conditioning Professional of the Year in 1984 and the Lifetime Achievement Award in 1998 to name a few. ;;Roger Earle has over 30 years’ experience as a personal trainer, sport conditioning coach and behaviour modification facilitator. He regularly lectures about designing personalised exercise and training programmes, weight management and exercise motivation at various conferences. Earle is also a senior acquisitions editor at Human Kinetics and has also authored, edited and contributed to 10 fitness related books. These include Fitness Weight Training (Human Kinetics, 2014) and EuropeActive’s Foundations for Exercise Professionals (Human Kinetics, 2015). Previously, Earle was the associate executive director and director of exam development for the NSCA Certification Commission. Before his work with the NSCA, he was the head strength and conditioning for 10 years at Creighton University, Nebraska.
