From the poet herself: In 2018, I had a severe trauma-related breakdown that caused me to relive traumas and stole my writing skills. The odds were against me, both for regaining my mental health and my literary knowledge. I refused to let the odds win. As part of that tumultuous healing process, I went through my surviving literary works in progress and journals. In addition, I read multiple writer's guides. To help myself heal, I forced myself to relive the traumas and decades worth of pent-up emotions that I hadn't been allowed to vocalize. Anger and rage flowed through my pen, staining pages in literary blood, a cathartic experience that fueled my healing process. I realized that these works can help fellow survivors feel heard and help others see into our minds to better understand us.
