Weaving a Strong Moral Web

Overview

The Holy Spirit lives inside all Christians and influences us toward Christ-likeness. ""Don't be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God."" Romans 12:2 WEB All of my books are written in hopes of inspiring you, the reader, to partner with the Holy Spirit inside you, giving them permission through prayer to change you into a Christ-like person who can love God and your neighbors. If you desire to be a person who loves your neighbor, so does the Holy Spirit inside you. Making that actually happen in our lives, is more difficult than we imagine and takes more time that we wish it would. We live in an age where cultures are colliding, and people disagree about almost everything. It does not matter if it is how to raise our children, what to eat, how old the earth is, how it was created, or what defines us as people. We can find a reason to disagree with each other. This book imagines a new way of thinking about morality, conscience, and how we develop our moral understanding. That way of thinking is based on almost 100 years of study and research on culture and the Biblical world view, which began with my grandfather's street preaching in Detroit, my mother and father's field work in cultures around the world, their forty years of teaching about cultures at Dallas International University and my own journey from the Jungle of Papua New Guinea to becoming a senior executive at an international corporation. As I teach and preach at multiple southern California churches in 2025, my skills at conflict resolution and reconciling Biblical morality with my cultural understanding have been tested and retested as the wars over what is right and wrong get tossed around by leaders and politicians. We are all victims of the cultural wars at some level. As I ponder the reality that so many of my friends and family who pray regularly, read the same Bible, attend a church weekly, and whom I have known so long can have such radically different views about what is right and wrong and what is good and what is evil. I am forced into a deep dive into how this is even possible. I believe that the cultural understanding my parents and their colleagues in the mission community are using can be applied to mainstream Western Churches to aid them in flourishing and overcoming their cultural misunderstandings. Aiding them in loving their neighbors. This book imagines an explanation and provides some practical guidance and tools to help you love your cousin that you disagree with politically. I believe that the Holy Spirit desires that and that with your permission and some understanding, you can embrace the changes in your heart necessary to make that happen. It will take some time and patience. And understanding will take weeks to present and months, perhaps years, to apply. Like a tree takes years to grow from a seed to a tree mature enough to bear fruit, changing our character takes time to mature, but it is possible with the aid of the Holy Spirit. About the Author: I was born and raised on the mission field in the Sepik region of Papua New Guinea. The youngest son of Wycliffe Bible Translators, Wayne and Sally Dye. I moved to southern California in high school and have lived here ever since. My wife Cheryl and I along with our two children Matthew and Shannon have spent the majority of our lives serving at a large seeker sensitive protestant evangelical church in Rancho Cucamonga, California. I teach Bible classes for adults, lead Bible Studies, and serve in both a Mega Church and a home Church while working at my day job as a department manager at a major corporation. My passion to equip my fellow servants to become loving ambassadors of King Jesus drives my life.
