We Make You Feel Sane

Overview

Jack is a doctor planning the perfect life with his future wife-until his grandfather dies in the wrong woman's bed. Now he must choose: reveal a family-ending secret, or join two ne'er-do-wells on a reckless mission to protect his loved ones. The problem? These are the wrong men for the job: a cousin chasing lost youth at the Jersey Shore, an uncle drinking his way to an early grave, and Jack himself, a lifelong square entangled in a messy love affair. What follows is a chain reaction of terrible decisions, absurd adventures, and the inevitable consequences everyone should have seen coming. We Make You Feel Sane is a story of beach-town nostalgia, lasting friendships, forbidden love, and the risks of trying to rewrite history.

Author Information

Phil is a physician-scientist by training, but a storyteller by birth. He was raised in New York, in a small town haunted by the ghosts of early twentieth-century writers. He spent his summers at the Jersey Shore, in a smaller town haunted by the ghosts of some lobsters he failed to resuscitate after exposure to fresh water. In his defense, he wasn't a doctor yet. After college, he worked and studied around the world. Phil's characters reflect both the sorts of people he grew up with and the weirdos he has met in his travels. All are fictional, but they feel real to him. After fifty years, maybe they are. When he's not tending to injured athletes or teaching at the medical school, you'll find Phil at the beach with his family and a totally unreasonable collection of fishing gear. http: //www.philipskiba.com
