'We Aren't Going Anywhere, Are We?"" is a collection of poems written by Ponaganset High School student, Gabrielle Taillon of Chepachet, Rhode Island, which was crafted over a period of critical years in her development as a young writer and individual. Written from ages thirteen to sixteen, 'We Aren't Going Anywhere, Are We' was inspired by adolescence, girlhood, stigmatized mental illness, the human condition, and a ferocious hunger fueled by a need for connection. This passionate collection explores a variety of perspectives on a surplus of experiences envisioned by Gabrielle Taillon. It offers unique characters, vivid imagery, and above all, gut-wrenching rawness. Heavily inspired by Taillon's day to day life, as well as considerable writers such as Richard Siken and Sylvia Plath, this collection combines influences to examine, honor, and ruminate the human condition, especially in regards to the experiences of young people.
