Overview

In 2004, University professor, Dr. James Wilhite was called to active duty for Operation Enduring Freedom and became Colonel James Wilhite. Given a mission to build a four year university for Afghan students, that modeled West Point, Wilhite was given no money, no full time staff and only ten months to complete what was believed to be an impossible assignment. With only a dream and a group of volunteers from West Point Colonel Wilhite embarked on a journey that changed his life forever. Colonel James Wilhite is professor emeritus from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, OK. He has also served more than thirty-nine years in the Army Reserve. A non-commissioned officer rising to the rank of Sergeant First Class and Senior Drill Sergeant at the Drill Sergeant Academy, Wilhite was selected twice as his division's Drill Sergeant of the Year. Later, commissioned as an officer, Wilhite served various assignments from training officer to battalion commander and eventually as a liaison officer for the United States Military Academy at West Point. In 2004-2005 Colonel Wilhite was able to utilize his educational experience both in the military and civilian world to successfully accomplish what was called an impossible assignment. His philosophy of Dream it, Believe it, Live it became the driving force of his success for his last mission in the military!
