WCM was inspired by concepts of Total Quality Control (TQC), Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), Total Industrial Engineering (TIE), Just in Time (JIT) and it is constantly refined through benchmarking with the best competitors. It embraces the entire organization of the factory, starting from health and safety, involving quality system, maintenance system, workplace organization and logistics. WCM activities are constantly driven from Cost Deployment which establishes a cost reduction program based on a scientific and systematic investigation among various kinds of wastes and losses. The level reached by each plant is certified by expert Auditors and is achieved through continuous improvement of performance and constant involvement of all levels of the company. WCM is organized in a set of ten technical pillars (safety/hygiene & work environment, cost deployment, focused improvement, autonomous activities, professional maintenance, quality control, logistics & customer service, early equipment and product management, people development, environment) organized in a 7-steps approach and ten managerial pillars (management commitment, clarity of objectives, route map to WCM, allocation of people, commitment of organization, competence of organization, time and budget, level of detail, level of expansion, motivation of operators).
