This book explores ways of representing persecution, flight and asylum in the context of social work. It begins with a comprehensive examination of the topics of persecution, flight and asylum. To this end, asylum policy in Germany and Europe is first outlined and analysed. Border surveillance at Europe's external borders is also discussed in this context. The next step is to examine the impact of policy on individual refugees. The approach to refugees outlined above is then examined in terms of the responsibility of social work.
