Overview

Little did I know back in my youth of the history that this country was steeped in, in fact little did I know, about Scotland's history full stop, thanks to the lack of it taught in our schools. That all changed as I got more and more interested in it after I moved, ironically from Johnstone, just a mile or so from William Wallace's birthplace, to a small village across the firth of Clyde above Dunoon, called Clachaig. I became friends with the McNeill family of Glenbranter, who introduced me to a side of Scottish history that I had never ever been aware of. I attended various commemoration events, which included the Raising of the Standard on Ormand Hill, Avoch (Pronounced Och) to honour Sir Andrew de Morays rallying of an army from the Highlands to eventualy join up with William Wallace, where de Moray commanded the historic defeat of the English at the Battle of Stirling Bridge Now think about it, a near fifty year old Scotsman, who up until a few years earlier had never heard tell of this man and his family. This country of ours had such an historic, turbulent and bloody past, in its fight for its very existence let alone its freedom from our tyrannical neighbouring country, England, little or none of which has been passed onto our children. I started writing verse relating to our various trips and found I had a way with words. This then kindled on the run up the Scottish Independence referendum in 2014. I was just so fired up by the lies that were being omitted from the opposition to our independence and its puppet media. So herein lies that story, my Saltirical rants, my tears, my fears and my dreams, of an Independent Scotland, freed from the chains of corruption and deceit. Thig ar latha.. Our day will come..
