Water For A Lily was created unintentionally. This book of poetry and short prose was written by the author within a one-year period following the loss of their lifelong friend, Lily. After realizing they had been writing copious amounts of poetry to process the grief, the author decided to publish select pieces gently, as a tribute to loss, trauma and the importance of feeling. These pages are filled with prose alongside original black and white film photographs. The result is a palpable and often painful landscape that shares a delicate glimpse into the anguish one experiences after having a loved one take their life, all while acknowledging that our most painful human experiences may also be our most essential. This book traverses the vast emotional terrain of what it means to survive the first year of grief.
