OverviewThis third book in the Black Wolf tetralogy features a multitude of case studies and largely ignored primary sources. In this way, readers are exposed to a variety of Nazi viewpoints of otherness, as well as others' views of the Nazis -- a rare treat! We are usually told by historians that the Nazi government threw public opinion to the wind, and cared not whether they were seen as a world pariah. If this is not stated up front in the majority of books, it is implied. But is this true? In just ONE example provided in the book Showing Our Colors, one can readily state that it is u-n-t-r-u-e. And this goes back to what Ms. Clark discovered about Nazi race laws not only being flexibly applied but that racism in Nazi Germany came second behind foreign policy. From gross maltreatment of Black POWs to African-Nazi collaboration, Ms. Clark surveys and analyzes so much anecdotal evidence in this installment that one may want to read it more than once!
