Before turning to this field, he worked as an advertising copywriter, a technical writer, and an entertainment journalist writing about movies, music, TV, and various celebrities. Pete's first publishing experience occurred in fifth grade, when he and a friend created their own magazine and sold several issues to their classmates. Then summer came and they forgot all about the whole thing. That was Pete's first experience in writing for kids and since then it's become his favorite type of work. Pete lives on the fringes of a large Midwestern city with a yowling monster, otherwise known as a tortoiseshell feline named Punky Badcat. Eric Fein is a freelance author of more than 40 fiction and nonfiction books and graphic novels. His books for Capstone include Impossible Victory: The Battle of Stalingrad, D-Day: The Battle for Normandy, and Weapons, Gear, and Uniforms of World War I. Rebecca Fishkin is a freelance writer and editor and has worked as a journalist for several newspapers and magazines. Rebecca has enjoyed working with Operation Smile, an organization that cares for children suffering from cleft lips and palates. She has also worked as a program manager with agencies that focus on school readiness in Virginia and Pennsylvania. Rebecca now lives in Lawrenceville, New Jersey. Michelle Levine has been a freelance writer and editor for over a decade and has authored more than a dozen nonfiction books for kids. She loves researching new topics and finding interesting ways to describe them. Michelle has written about everything from history and historical people to astronomy and natural science. She lives in St. Paul, Minnesota, with her family. Michelle Schaub has been a freelance writer for over 15 years.
