The author was a participant in the events, being in a surrounded city, and collected hundreds of interviews with military and civic personnel who took a direct part in the battles. He has written a large number of books in Russian, Ukrainian, English and French, and has attended numerous conferences relating to the Russian-Ukranian war that began in 2014. Author Information

Mykhailo Zhyrokhov was born in the Donetsk region of Ukraine in 1974. He is a professional historian specialising in conflicts in the post-Soviet countries and the history of aviation. He has written an impressive number of books in Russian, Ukrainian, English and French. He has attended numerous conferences relating to Russian - Ukranian war that started in 2014. He is now head of the Chernihiv Military Historical Museum.
