Table of ContentsReviewsAuthor InformationJohn Darrell Sherwood has served as a historian with the Naval History and Heritage Command (NHHC) since 1997. Before coming to NHHC, Dr. Sherwood worked for the U.S. Army Center of Military History from 1995 to 1997 and was an Air Force dissertation fellow during the 1994 1995 academic year. He holds a PhD in history from George Washington University and has authored five books: Nixon s Trident: Naval Power in Southeast Asia, 1968 1972 (2009); Black Sailor, White Navy: Racial Unrest in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War Era (2007); Afterburner: Naval Aviators and the Vietnam War (2004); Fast Movers: Jet Pilots and the Vietnam Experience (1999); and Officers in Flight Suits: The Story of American Air Force Fighter Pilots in the Korean War (1996). He has also published a number of articles and book reviews in a wide range of journals, including Journal of American History, Joint Force Quarterly, and Journal of Military History.
