OverviewTom David and Warren Handley are two South Africans who at 24 years-of-age took the first steps of a life-changing journey. This is the honest, gripping account of climbing the highest mountain in Africa, Mount Kilimanjaro, and walking 6 000km through six countries on US$2 a day in aid of early childhood development. In a story of extreme pain and even greater kindness, overcoming challenges and lessons learned, they have a message to share. Table of ContentsReviewsAuthor InformationWarren Handley grew up in Cape Town's southern suburbs and studied Business Science Marketing at UCT before backpacking through South America. He is referred to as a `yes man' because he seldom turns down the opportunity to try new things. The results range from trips through Africa to failed attempts at learning to salsa. He is a hopeless romantic, runs and surfs and swims in the Atlantic during winter. Warren now works in the world of social enterprise. Tom David was born in April of 1993, a few days before Chris Hani's assassination. His parents, Neal, a Jewish boy from Kimberley and Marion, a coloured woman from the Transkei, met in Cape Town where they have raised their three sons. Tom, their eldest, studied Economics at UCT and now works closely with the public sector in a tech start-up. He stays sane by getting outdoors, either on the mountain or surfing in the ocean, and doesn't like to wear a belt on Sundays. Tab Content 6Author Website:Countries AvailableAll regions |
