Overview

Family, friends, and customers of my former cafe' have been asking me to share my recipes for years. That is easier said than done as I don't really use recipes. I mainly cook by taste and I very seldom measure. In saying that, it's been hard indeed to produce this little recipe book. These are mostly comfort foods that I prepared when raising my family and I incorporated them into my cafe' and also into the inspirational mystery novels I write. I still cook and eat these same recipes at home. I no longer have the cafe' but I share a lot of my cooking with family and neighbors who have also asked for my recipes. My reading fans tell me they have set out a stash of food when they read my novels as I make them hungry with what I write. So, here it is, comfort food and country cooking. I write the mystery novels under the pen name of Wahletta Hale, so I invite you to get one of my books, cook some of these recipes, sit down, relax, read and enjoy. My novels are clean mystery and suspense. There is no profanity or explicit sexual scenes in any of them. They do have a little clean romance. All of my novels co-star one or more of the family pets we have adopted throughout the years. All of my recipes are not in here as some are still a secret, but the main ones are. From Fried Apples to Homemade White Sauce and all in between, I hope you will enjoy this little recipe book.

Author Information

The author's pen name, Wahletta Hale, comes from her half-Cherokee father who gave the name Wahletta to her mother when they married. In real life, the author was born in Olive Hill, Kentucky, then her family moved to rural Ohio when she was three weeks old, where she grew up. Many of the scenes of My Brother's Finder, My Brother's Keeper, and Twin Mysteries At The Old Post Office are set in Ohio. Although the author resided several years in a small coastal fishing village in Florida, the scenes of Missing Starr are set in a small fictional coastal fishing village named Capwater in Florida. She drew upon her experiences as a survivor of tragedy, a person of faith, a member of a large rural family, an animal lover, a real estate broker, and a bookshop/caf� entrepreneur to lend authenticity to the events of the novel. She also likes to cook, do interior and exterior designing and renovating of old houses along with interior decorating. Her love of animals is evident in the way she weaves the family pets into each of her stories. She is an advocate of pet rescue shelters and encourages people to adopt rather than buy a pet. Each book is in honor of her late mother who loved a good mystery and wanted to be a writer herself. Wahletta lives in Florida, inland, but not far from the coast.
