OverviewVOXEL-MAN 3D-Navigator: Brain and Skull is a new kind of anatomical and radiolgical atlas. It was developed at the Institute of Mathematics and Computer Science in Medicine, University Hospital Hamburg-Eppendorf. It is the successor of VOXEL-MAN Junior brain and skull. The material is organized as a set of interactively explorable scenes, each of which shows a special aspect of anatomy, radiology, or both. It allows interactive exploration of a three-dimensional anatomical model. It presents the radiological manifestation of normal anatomy in the context of three-dimensional anatomy. The VOXEL-MAN 3 D NAVIGATOR provides unique reference material not only for medical students, but also for professionals in all medical disciplines involving anatomy and radiology. The VOXEL-MAN 3D-Navigatior is multilingual. The anatomical nomenclature is available in English, German, Latin, French and Japanese. Full Product DetailsAuthor: Karl H. Spektrum der Wissenschaft From the reviews of the second edition:
Voxel-man 3D-navigator brain and skull is an anatomical and radiological atlas in English, German and Japanese on two CD-ROMs. a ] Installation of the CD-ROMs is easy and system requirements are not extensive a ] . Voxel-man 3D-navigator a ] is an example of how modern computer technology can be helpful in learning or teaching anatomy and radiological anatomy. a ] Voxel-man 3D-navigator a ] can help the students and the professionals a ] to get a better insight into the 3D relationship of the structures in the human body. (J. Verschakelen, European Radiology, Vol. 13 (4), 2003)
Voxel-man 3D navigator is an anatomical CD ROM a ] . The 3D images which require red/green spectacles (supplied) are truly spectacular. The package is well presented, easy to navigate, has multilingual a ] capabilities and access to an e-mail help desk. This programme is of value to medical students, junior doctors and other health care professionals a ] . Overall, the authors are to be congratulated for this product, which is well designed, and a useful complement to anatomy books and atlases. (P. Hutchinson, British Journal of Neurosurgery, Vol. 16 (5), 2002)
Voxel-man 3D navigator a ] is a computerised anatomical and radiological atlas a ] . A particularly impressive feature is a ~seeka (TM) mode, in which a selected region is highlighted and scrolled through a ] in its three-dimensional entirety. The author should also be complimented on the detail and clarity of the descriptive text. a ] Voxel-man a ] is a very useful introduction to the morphology, functional anatomy, and blood pressure of the brain. The integrated approach and 3D interactive formatare user-friendly and highly suitable for the target audience. (J. Graham and P.D. Griffiths, Neuroradiology, Vol. 44 (6), 2002)
The VOXEL-MAN 3D Navigator Brain and Skull version 2.0 is an interactive anatomical and radiological atlas of the brain and skull in three dimensions. a ] this software a ] is extremely well thought out. a ] this software has a key role in showing medical students the main encephalic structures during tutorials. Because it is very complete, precise and detailed, it will certainly become the reference for anatomists, radiologists, neurologists and neurosurgeons. (C. Fontaine, Surgical and Radiologic Anatomy, Vol. 24 (1), 2002)
This is the Porsche or Ferrari of the CD-Rom teaching resource and you will want to explore all that it has to offer. On the whole the image sets are truly stunning a ] . Many of the sets are 3D images viewed with red and green spectacles supplied with the package; they are quite fantastic, providing a sharp image with real depth and substance. a ] I feel Voxel-Man is easy to use, excellent value for money and an excellent teaching and learning tool. (D. Peach, RAD-Magazine, March, 2002)
I think, the best way to get acquainted with these CDs and their amazing features would be to acquire a set and try exploring yourself. a ] I would heartily recommend these CDs not only to all medical professionals and medical students, but to all intelligent people who want to explore the human body a ] . (Anil Aggrawala (TM)s Internet Journal of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology, Vol. 2 (2), November, 2001)
This is an interactive anatomical and radiological atlas a ] . The program a ] is very easy to use. a ] This software provides ageneral understanding a ] of the brain and skull, and the image resolution is consistently clear a ] . I absolutely recommend that it be available in departments with training programs. a ] As a complement to lectures and a textbook, this software seems to be such a good study tool a ] that it will probably be used as a substitute for anatomical dissections.
