OverviewIntroduction The drawings that are suggested to you in this coloring book are the authentic drawings of artworks. These have effectively been presented during exhibitions or presentations in North America, Germany and Latvia. A website has been dedicated to them: www.waldheims.net. We suggest you to travel back in time and return between 1952 and 1988, in the apartment where Waldheims has created each of the 650 geometrical and abstract works of his collection. The first step for him was to find the reference points around which his work will be based on. The second step was to trace, around these reference points, the geometrical figures used to obtain a first drawing. The third step was to color the drawing. To realize this coloring book, we have done the total opposite. We have vectorized (traced) 50 of his works to obtain their starting drawings forming the content of this coloring book. We also have written exercises booklets in which we take over the drawings of the coloring book and give each necessary step and instruction to find the reference points leading to the starting drawings that Waldheims used. Today, we observe a growing interest for coloring as a hobby or art therapy. The quality of the coloring covers the beginner to expert levels. For this purpose, there are many websites and referencebooks that will allow you to improve the quality of your drawings. Zanis Waldheims (1909-1993) Approach It is from a strong intuition, nourished by his numerous readings in the pure and human sciences domain, that Waldheims searches to schematise the ideas or concepts of the scientific authors he reads. It is therefore to the content and the structure of the sentences attempting to explain nature and the human being that he first put his interest in at the origin of his quest of meaning. His archives and the five hundred books of his library testify of that geometrical and abstract schematisation. Furthermore, he quite quickly develops a metalanguage. Many concepts will then be schematise in a structure where, instinctively, the axes and Cartesian planes, as well as the primary forms of geometry, will be the elements of his abstract and geometrical language. Among them, for example, we could find the concepts of conscious, subconscious and unconscious from the domain of contemporary psychology; of spacetime, energy mater and levels of potential from the domain of modern sciences; of top view and elevation view from the domain of architecture, etc. Color comes in addition to it, all in nuances and shadings, to dress up and give a soul to the works. The perfect tool for his artistic and intellectual activity is the colored pencil on a white Bristol Paper which dimension is about 700 mm square. From 1980, he converts his works in three-dimensional sculptures and bas-reliefs.
