Overview
Inspired by cultural theorists Sylvia Wynter and June Jordan, we seek to expand the concept of “architecture” beyond its conventional meaning to survey the physical, psychological, and cultural structures that reflect the world we wish to create or represent. Within Volume 07, we delve into the connections between the body, memory, philosophy, aesthetics, and design throughout the Caribbean and the diaspora. Topics such as ecological degradation, cultural erasure, and genealogy are open for exploration within the context of speculative design and applied architecture. Reflecting on the question: What can we learn from revolutionary Caribbean leaders, and how can they inspire us to improve the environments we inhabit daily? Artists and thinkers are welcome to engage with themes of rebellion, desire, and sovereignty that weave radical traditions into the built environment.
