Volkspele is a South African folk dancetradition.Directly translated, Volkspele means folkgames and can be translated to folk dance. Folkdance was the brain child of South African, Dr. SHPellisier who was visiting Sweden in 1912 with afriend to become more proficient in carpentry. Afterfinishing their day's work they met with other youngpeople in their respective country's national dressto practice their folk singing and dancing. The SouthAfricans were the only one's left out as they did not have any traditional dances.
