Overview"Text in German. The year 1819 is a special milestone in the music history of today's Austrian province of Vorarlberg. The participation of the State of Vorarlberg in the folk music collection of the Gesellschaft für Musikfreunde in Vienna, now known as the ""Sonnleithner Collection"", drew attention to musical life in the west of the Habsburg Empire for the first time. The second Vorarlberg volume in the ""Corpus Musicae Popularis Austriacae"" series by the Austrian Folk Song Association focuses on this collection and presents a documentation of the results from the Bregenz district with contemporary notation and detailed comments. In addition to this, the oldest surviving manuscripts of songs and musicians from the first three decades of the 19th century are subjected to closer examination. Scientific articles attempt to shed more light on the historical course of the collecting company and the musical life of the early Biedermeier period using historical sources."
