Overview

Using surveys and interviews, research was conducted into the work of a small charity caring for local residents who suffered from mental distress. Results demonstrated that it can be extremely beneficial for churches to carefully consider a range of issues in order to offer an appropriate welcome, services and activities for these members of their local communities. The Covid pandemic also had effects upon the study and the participants and this is reflected in the findings.

Revd Susan Bull founded the charity 'Love Me Love My Mind' in Epsom, Surrey, serving as its Chair until her death in 2022. She researched the role of the church in mental health work, with particular attention to local outreach work in her area. Nicola L. Bull completed the analysis of her late sister-in-law's findings, editing and completing the write-up and contributing a Foreword.
