It's rich melody is perfect for allowing students to practice solo singing, or it can be sung as an ensemble throughout. Thirteen Stripes and Fifty Stars is a two-part march that highlights historical facts about the American flag. It mentions the contributions of Betsy Ross and Francis Scott Key as well as explaining the meaning of the stars and stripes. The piano part has a difficult embedded feature that is reminiscent of the marches popularized during the formation years of our country; however, that section can easily be substituted by playing the same part as is played in the preceding section without any diminishing of the performance. War for Liberty is a unison ballad based on the Civil War. Its message is two-fold in that it highlights the fact that the Civil War was the war which led to the freedom of every race in our country and also give tribute to our veterans and enlisted military personnel. This piece is suitable for any occasion; however, it is particularly nice for Black History Month or a Juneteenth celebration. The Battle Hymn of the Republic is a dynamic unison arrangement of the traditional piece. This arrangement features a modulation from the key of E to G for the last verse and chorus making for a dynamic climactic ending.
