Overview

This thesis, entitled 'Voice Training for Children in Boys' Choirs', focuses specifically on my experiences to date as a voice coach with the St. Florian Boys' Choir, a traditional boys' choir founded in 1071. A key topic of my thesis is the vocal development of children up to the point of voice change and, subsequently, the question of whether singing during voice change is advisable. Important parameters of voice training are described and explained in more detail using tried-and-tested vocal exercises that have helped me greatly in my lessons with the boys. Another equally important topic in children's voice training is the inner sound image through solmisation, which is also discussed.
