Visits from the Muse I suspect the Muse of planting seeds because it's a good metaphor for what happens a germination in my brain growing into Art After planting an inspiration she flies away and doesn't sit on my shoulder to dictate for that's not her job If I get writer's block it's not my Muse's fault the ear is sometimes callous and cannot hear her whispers But if I pay attention and nurture the little sprout it can grow to maturity These printed words are her fruit for the pages would be bare without visits from the Muse

Author Information

Dale Brabb studied writing at the University of Oregon, achieving a Bachelor of Arts in English. He has previously published two books of poetry, one of fiction, and one book of nonfiction. This book, Visits from the Muse, is a mixture of poetry and memoirs. He does regular readings of his work, with his main purpose being to entertain an audience. Both his poetry and prose use language that is easily understood while at the same time thought-provoking, written with their performance in mind. Mr. Brabb has been performing in public for nearly eight decades, starting at the age of three and continuing to the present day.
