OverviewThe book is based on the research result which was conducted in 2000 in Kereyus area, East Shewa Zone of Oromia Regional State, Central Rift Valley Region of Ethiopia. The Kereyu people are pastoralist communities living in culturally mixed area with traditional life style. The study focused primarily on reproductive rights of Women in these communities. It was conducted with the general objective to show the links between the reproductive violence and socio-cultural factors. The study used primary and secondary data with the hypothesis of cultural, religious and traditional factors contributing to violence against reproductive rights of women. The findings on right to marriage which includes choice of husband and early marriage, reproductive health - deciding when or how many children to have and the right to use contraceptives, genital mutilations are clearly showed the status of the reproductive rights of the women in the area.
