From Snowdonia to Gower, this magnificent colour book showcases the architecture, gardens, harbours, shops, signs, churches, pubs and monuments symbolic to Welsh village lifestyles. The book includes Pendoylan, Llangynidr and Tintern. -- Publisher: Graffeg Village Wales is what I would call an excellent coffee-table book (a book you leave lying out on the coffee-table for guests to scan and discuss while you step away to fetch refreshments or check on something). The photographs are gorgeous, the text is informative and concise, and you can pick it up and immediately your interest is caught by something. David Williams has done a wonderful job of providing a glimpse of life in different Welsh villages. The book covers fifteen different villages in various parts of Wales. Some are well-known tourist destinations; others are less known but no less interesting. Williams begins with a brief discussion of the definition of a village, and how it is evolving with the changing times. Then comes the examination of the fifteen thriving Welsh villages, illustrating what makes each one unique. The book provides an insight into a part of Wales that can be missed if you do not know to look for it. -- Julie Jones @ www.gwales.com Author InformationDavid Williams is a writer and photographer specialising in the life, landscape, history and culture of Wales.
