OverviewThe excavations carried out by the National Museum of Ireland bewteen 1962-81 yielded a large collection of copper-alloy and ringed pins. They form approximately one-third of the known corpus of ringed pins from Viking and medieval contexts in Europe. In this work, the late Professor Fanning defines and classifies the material evidence from the Dublin excavations, comparing them with assemblages from Irish sites and Viking Europe.
