Victor Georgievich Veselago (born 1929, in Ukrainian SSR, USSR) is a Russian physicist who, in 1967, first theoretically analyzed materials with negative permittivity and permeability. He published his notable, seminal, work in a paper (see ref #1), first in Russian (1967), which was then translated into English (1968). His published paper was key to the advancement of physics research in his particular subject area. It has been cited 1,646 times by other scientific works, according to Cross ref and 1,196 times according to Google Scholar as of Jan. 2010. He is also on the advisory board of the peer reviewed journal Metamaterials, along with a number of other notable board members who have significantly contributed to metamaterial research.
