Jovan Ducic (1874-1943) jedan od najznacajnijih pesnika srpskog modernizma, clan Srpske kraljevske akademije i prvi jugoslovenski diplomata sa titulom ambasadora. Prvu zbirku pesama objavio je u Mostaru 1901. godine, sledece tri u Beogradu 1908. Knjizevni kriticar Jovan Skerlic ocenio ga je kao ""najboljeg mladog liricara u srpskoj i jugoslovenskoj knjizevnosti"". Pored poezije pisao je i prozu, uglavnom filozofske i političko-istorijske eseje.
