Jay Barrett Jr. is a second-generation practicing architect who grew up in the Upper Connecticut River Valley of New Hampshire and Vermont. Much of his architectural work is in the field of historic preservation, and his home is a former railroad station. From a young age, he developed a deep love of all history, especially that of the patterns of regional transportation. He is a frequent lecturer concerning matters of transportation history at the New Hampshire Historical Society, along with sharing his love of history with various other groups and organizations. In the past, he has published five books with Arcadia Publishing concerning New Hampshire and Vermont history. This is his first book with The History Press.
