Author Information

Willy Guggenheim spent many years attempting to establish himself as a freelance artist in Paris, but he moved back to Switzerland in the 1930s. His first successes, not only artistically but also financially, came in the 1950s. In 1960, Varlin represented Switzerland at the Venice Biennale and also received the Guggenheim International Award. Varlin exhibits his works for the last time in 1976 at a large-scale retrospective in Milan. He died on October 30, 1977 in Bondo.
