Emily Austin nació en Ontario, Canadá. Estudió Lengua y Literatura Inglesas en el King’s University College, y Biblioteconomía y Ciencias de la Información en la Western University. Aunque recibió una educación católica, pronto se dio cuenta de que le era imposible sentirse identificada con la comunidad religiosa. En Vamos a morir todos, su primera novela, recoge la desazón de su juventud, siempre apoyada en un sentido del humor que considera fundamental en su vida. Su debut ha sido galardonado con la medalla del humor Stephen Leacock, ha sido finalista de los premios Ottawa Book Awards y preseleccionada para el premio Amazon First Novel Award.
