Vali: Persian Folk Songs (Set No. 16c) Bassoon and Piano


Overview

(LKM Music). This is the sixteenth set of an ongoing cycle of Persian folk songs the Reza Vali has been composing since 1978. The piece was originally written for cellist Kian Soltani and consists of seven songs, some of which are based on authentic Persian folk melodies and some are composed in the style of a folk song (imaginary folk songs). Song titles: 1. Longing, 2. In Memory of a Lost Beloved, 3. The Girl from Shiraz, 4. Love Drunk (mastom-mastom), 5. In the Style of an Armenian Folk Song, 6. Imaginary Folk Song, 7. Folk Song from Khorasan. This arrangement for bassoon and piano has been completed by Darius Farhoumand.
