OverviewGegenwartsliteratur: Ein germanistisches Jahrbuch/ A German Studies Yearbook was founded in 2022 by Mike Lützeler (Washington University, St. Louis) and is currently edited by Friederike Eigler (Georgetown University). It is one of the premier international publication venues in the field of German Studies, presenting original research in both German and English for scholars across the globe. Each volume of the yearbook comprises articles covering aspects of contemporary German-language literature from the 1990s onwards, a cluster of articles on an annual special topic reflecting current discourses in the discipline, and a book review section. Recent topics include Disability Studies (2022), Gedächtnis-Autofiktion-Archive (2023), and Utopia-Dystopia-Futurity (2024). Contributions to the special topic are by invitation only while articles on any topic can be submitted for consideration year-round. Contributions are accepted in English or German and undergo a rigorous double-blind peer review prior to acceptance for publication. In light of transnational trends in contemporary German language literature, the international profile of Gegenwartsliteratur is the ideal forum for the academic study of this body of literature.
