Table of ContentsReviewsAuthor InformationThomas More (1779-1852) was one of the most influential figures in Tudor England. A lawyer, philosopher, statesman, author, judge and prominent humanist, he was a key advisor to Henry VIII but lost the king's trust - and his life - through his opposition to the Reformation. He was later canonised as a saint by the Catholic church. This edition contains the 1684 translation by Gilbert Burnet (1643-1715). Burnet was a Scottish philosopher and historian fluent in several languages and was most famous for his magnum opus, the three-volume History of the Reformation.
