OverviewThe Caldera Desktop combines the power of UNIX with an easy-to-use graphical interface and network connectivity within a commercial organization. Caldera adds access to Novell Netware and a simple graphical interface on top of the Linux operating system. In its appearance and operation, Caldera is a typical, modern, interface, very neatly tied to the UNIX-compatible system underneath. Directories are represented through a hierarchical set of windows. You can customize a toolbox to contain any desired icons for our favourite programs, and a file manager is included. With Caldera, you can call up applications from the X Window System easier and with less typing. And you can still reach behind the desktop to the full capabilities of Linux, which is increasingly popular as a development platform and Internet server. This text is for anyone using the Caldera Desktop on a PC. It explains how to use the desktop features, how to run UNIX and MS-DOS programs, and how to use basic networking features. It also contains installation instructions.
