Professor Droege served as President of the European Association for Renewable Energy, Eurosolar, and Executive Chairman, World Council for Renewable Energy. He received the European Solar Prize in Education and initiated the Chair for Sustainable Spatial Development at the University of Liechtenstein, holding a Honorary Professorship at the University of Newcastle, Australia. Droege is co-founder of the Global Climate Geodesign Challenge evolved in the International Geodesign Collaboration with Esri.
