Astrid Ley (Edited by) Astrid Ley (Prof. Dr.) heads the Department of International Urbanism and Design and the Institute for Urban Planning and Design and is the course director of the international master program »MSc Integrated Urbanism and Sustainable Design« (IUSD) at Universität Stuttgart. She has continued interest in a people-centred urban transformation in the context of the manifold global challenges urban areas are both exposed and contribute to. Her expertise and publication record include topics related to urbanisation, housing and informal settlement processes, the role of local governance, co-production and civil society as well as the contextualisation of global agendas. Josefine Fokdal (Edited by) Josefine Fokdal (Dr.) is an architect and the founder of BLEIB, which addresses housing sufficiency in Berlin by designing and optimising interior spaces. Prior to founding BLEIB, she collected experience as a senior researcher and lecturer at TU Berlin and Universität Stuttgart, and was visiting professor for sustainable cities and communities at Universität Kassel in 2022/2023. She further worked as consultant for various bi- and multilateral organisations. Her research and writings span the field of housing, governance, urbanization processes, informal settlements processes, spatial theories and methodological approaches towards urban research, practice and education.
