This work is a major contribution to the field since there is a growing awareness that perspectives that are currently presented in introductory courses reflect a view of the field and of society that is one sided. In this book, there are several other perspectives within a variety of psychological specialties that are capably presented in the context of current theories and states of knowledge. (Ann V. To date, this is the only available text that covers the pioneering work in women's development by the widely praised Stone Center. A fine example of feminist methodology, it should be read by everyone interested in the construction of knowledge.
